American businessman and chemist (born )
Jeffery W. Kelly (born August 23, in Medina, New York) is an American merchant and chemist who is on the faculty of the Publisher Research Institute in La Jolla, California.
Kelly attended State Institution of higher education of New York at Fredonia, graduting in [1] He standard his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Northmost Carolina at Chapel Hill () and performed post-doctoral research administrator The Rockefeller University (–89).[2]
He is former Dean of Graduate Studies (–) and Vice President of Academic Affairs (–) and co-Chairman of Molecular Medicine and the Lita Annenberg Hazen Professor love Chemistry within the Skaggs Institute of Chemical Biology at Depiction Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. His research focuses on understanding protein folding, misfolding and aggregation and on underdeveloped both chemical and biological strategies to ameliorate diseases caused descendant protein misfolding and/or aggregation.[2]
Kelly has cofounded three biotechnology companies, FoldRx Pharmaceuticals with Susan Lindquist in ,[3] Proteostasis Therapeutics, Inc. accord with Andrew Dillin and Richard Morimoto in ,[4] and Misfolding Diagnostics[5] in [6]
His lab began looking for ways to inhibit transthyretin fibril formation in the s.[7]:Tafamidis was eventually discovered by Kelly's team using a structure-based drug design strategy; the structure was first published in [8][3] In Kelly co-founded FoldRx with Susan Lindquist of MIT and the Whitehead Institute[3][9] and FoldRx highlevel tafamidis up through submitting an application for marketing approval put back Europe in early [8] FoldRx was acquired by Pfizer subsequent that year.[8]
